SENIOR MOMENTS 2023: Leading to a successful internship

Colin Powell once said, “There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure”. Last July 05, Senior Moments 2023 was held via virtual, whereas Ba Communication interns who recently graduated last July 06 shared their experiences and learning during their internships.

The senior moment’s session was packed with fruitful learning experiences, which have been an excellent guide for future Ba Communication interns. The sessions were divided into six talks from different HTEs ( Host Training Establishment): Linkage Web Development; PTV CAR; ABS — CBN BMPM; BFFFI, Podcast Asia Network, and Herald Express. Aside from sharing their experiences in each session, they also provide the future interns with information containing work culture, roles and responsibilities, and expectations.

The talks not only help the future interns to be familiarized with the organization but also to clearly understand the tasks and what is expected during the internship period. They also discussed how communication and reporting are essential during an internship, that clarifying and having clear communication between the students and their supervisors have ensured to be effective because it enables the interns to seek guidance, share progress, and receive feedback throughout their internship. Effective communication channels contribute to a positive and productive working relationship.

Additionally, it facilitates a smooth transition for the future interns into the host establishment. By providing information about the organization’s work culture, policies, and procedures, the future interns will know how to quickly adapt to their new work environment and start contributing effectively. These talks also allow the interns to outline the training and development opportunities available to the future interns. By discussing the training plan, the interns provide a structured learning experience to help the students acquire valuable skills and knowledge relevant to their field of study.
